There is not much to see until getting into eastern Minnesota and Wisconsin. You must stop at Wisconsin Dells for sure. There are two boat trips, the Upper and Lower Dells. Take the Upper Dells boat trip, the best. If you have additional time you may want to include Circus World Museum at Baraboo, Wisconsin. This is not far from Wisconsin Dells. The younger members of your family may enjoy this a lot. I hope you like Wisconsin and the people treat you well. This is my home state. And when in Chicago, there is lots to see, the main thing in the Sears Tower, the highest building in the world. The best way to see Chicago is on a sight seeing bus tour. The city is very large and hard to drive around for strangers. And when you leave Chicago, you have also left the best part of the United States....the western half.
